We bought a new car! It is a 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. Yes, we went the minivan route and I love it. I love it. It is so much easier with the girls. The insurance process has been a nightmare, and we know for sure we are switching because of this fiasco. We are waiting until they pay out, and then switching.
I am entering the scary world of enrolling Hannah for kindergarten. I called her neighborhood school last week, and was treated poorly. I was giving the lady the benefit of the doubt, but I found someone else had a horrible experience with the office staff as well. Our neighborhood school is also a technology magnet school. I am not sure how I feel about that. Hannah likes technology, but I am not sure I want the focus of that in every subject.
Potty training is going terribly. I am tired of changing diapers, but I am afraid if I push too much Meeghan will resist even more. I am trying to be patient and let her tell me when she is ready.
I have my first real running injury. I have peroneal tendonitis. Okay, it is a self diagnosis, but from what I have read it is dead on to my symptoms. I guess it is from marathon training, and probably not letting myself fully recover afterwards. 2 miles into a run I am in pretty serious pain and can barely walk. Although the other day, once I made it past the 2 mile mark I felt great. It was the fastest I had run in months. I don't understand. So, I am going with the RICE method and I will be trying out compression socks. My next race isn't until March so I have some time to heal. It is frustrating though because running is my little bit of peace and quiet. I need that solitude to regroup for the day. Has anyone tried compression socks? Any recommendations?
I have heard both good and bad things about compression socks, I know some have had great results but others have said they didn't change anything. I hope your injury heals soon.
ReplyDeleteWe are slowly getting away from naps, and it's killing me. That 60-90 minutes of peach and quiet in the middle of the day was my saving grace. I feel your pain and hope quiet time starts to become more… quiet.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your injury! I hope it heals quickly. That time alone to run is seriously therapy. I haven't tried compression socks, but know many runners who swear by them.
No advice on compression socks (ouch!), but I can totally relate to the constant interruptions. Sometimes I just need to remind myself that very little of any of it is actually so important that it needs to be done or can't be worked around. (Chipotle for dinner, anyone?) I was just thinking of how fortunate I am that my husband supports my new running venture so that I can have that time. It must be so hard to go without after being used to it! Can you still sneak in walks or something else to get out? I hope you're back on track fast!
ReplyDeleteI think I will do family walks until I feel ready to run. I broke the rest rule last night, and attempted a run. I made it about a mile before the pain kicked in. I was able to run the last 2 miles with some pain.
DeleteOh, no! :(
ReplyDeleteI use compression knee socks for longer races (10miles +) and I have found that they are very helpful for my cramping. I think, as with everything, different things help or hinder different runners. I don't think they can hurt to try. I hope you are recovered soon.
I think naps should be mandatory for everyone.
I am hoping it helps. I went on a group run last night, and I was in pain. The leader has experience with my injury so she was helping me. Time, rolling, stretching, and icing are pretty much all I can do. It is probably related to the marathon since I didn't stretch well afterward.
